Saving You Time, Tears and Money with IVF Treatment

If you’re considering IVF treatment to help you conceive, let us help you make the best decisions for your situation

If you can’t conceive naturally, IVF may help you to have a baby.

It usually involves medicines (fertility hormones) that stimulate the ovaries to produce several eggs. The eggs are then collected and mixed with sperm in a laboratory. One cycle of IVF can take 3-6 weeks.

It’s one of the most invasive and expensive fertility treatments but it can give you the best chances of success (depending on your specific circumstances).

We want to save you time, stress and money when selecting fertility services based on clinical advice and personal experience of fertility treatments.

How does IVF work?

Having IVF is a big deal and getting the right support is crucial for your fertility journey.

IVF is carried out when the sperm quality is ‘normal. If there are issues with the sperm quality such as low motility or numbers, a procedure called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may instead be used. This involves a single sperm being injected into the egg by an Embryologist.

If fertilisation is successful, the embryos are allowed to develop for between two and six days. This helps the embryologist to select the strongest embryo, which is then transferred back to the woman’s womb to hopefully continue to a successful birth.

Often several good quality embryos will be created. In these cases, it’s normally best practice to freeze the remaining embryos. Putting two embryos back into the womb increases your chances of having twins or triplets, which can carry health risks. You can use the frozen embryos later if your first cycle is unsuccessful or if you want to try for another baby.

We can support you to choose the most appropriate fertility treatment, find the right fertility clinic for your needs and advise you on how to proceed for the best chance of success.
